Will there be UnPrisoned Season 3 On Hulu?

Fans have been enthralled by Hulu‘s popular series Unprisoned because of its unique blend of comedy and drama, which centers on the complicated familial relationships of the Alexander family. The show which was created by Tracy McMillan and was inspired by her personal life, centers on Paige Alexander, a social media influencer and therapist played by Kerry Washington. When her father, Edwin Alexander (played by Delroy Lindo), is released from prison after serving 17 years and moves in with her and her teenage son Finn (Faly Rakotohavana), Paige’s world completely changes.

With a humorous twist, this “dramedy” examines issues of unresolved trauma, family healing, and the intricacies of familial love. The excellent acting from the cast as well as the honest and realistic portrayal of emotional burdens and family relationships have captured the attention of fans.

Will there be UnPrisoned Season 3 On Hulu?

Sadly, UNPRISONED has been discontinued following its two-season run. Star ‘Kerry Washington confirmed the news on Instagram, expressing both disappointment and a great deal of thanks for the chance to work on the project.

Washington said, “This beautiful show that we poured so much of our hearts and souls into is unfortunately not coming back for a Season 3.” Hulu has chosen not to continue the show, despite the fact that there remained hope for a third season—especially considering the unfinished stories and character arcs left at the end of Season 2.

Fans of The Alexander Family still find meaning in the program even after it was canceled because so many of them were able to relate to the intricate and poignant scenes that were depicted. UNPRISONED is still a closed chapter on Hulu for the time being. The show’s creator, Tracy McMillan, has not responded to inquiries about the potential of the series being sold to other platforms.

UnPrisoned Season 2 Recap

In an effort to heal their damaged familial bonds, Paige, Edwin, and Finn’s personal growth and tribulations were further examined in UNPRISONED Season 2. Below is a quick summary of the main things that happened:

Paige’s Personal and Professional Struggles: Following criticism for her father’s TED address — Paige lost clients and fans. She begins the season facing obstacles in her career. As this is going on, she ends her relationship with Mal (Marque Richardson) leaving her with unsettled emotions.

Edwin’s Reintegration Challenges: With his criminal record Edwin finds it difficult to obtain steady job after serving 17 years in jail. He is compelled to face the emotional scars of his past including his inadequacy as a parent and the gap in his relationship with Paige, as he tries to mend his relationship with his family especially, with Finn and Paige.

Family Therapy and Growth: Throughout the season Murphy Collins (played by John Stamos) leads the family in therapy sessions where he pushes them all to confront their inner issues. As Edwin comes to terms with his previous deeds and how they affected his daughter and grandchild — Paige is compelled to face her concerns with detachment.

Finn’s Adolescent Struggles: Struggling with identity and anxiety – Finn is torn between his grandfather’s wish for him to become independent and his mother’s overprotectiveness. His plot is a moving illustration of the impact that generational trauma has on the next generation.

Paige’s Dating Life — Following her split with Mal, Paige ventures into the realm of online dating, receiving guidance from her father on how to be picky (also known as “dating like a cat”). Her quest for self-acceptance and her efforts to strike a balance between her emotions and her intellect give her a humorous and perceptive edge.

Edwin’s Redemption: Edwin eventually finds some atonement through a job helping Ex-offenders reintegrate into society by applying his expertise. His narrative serves as a potent reminder of the difficulties ex-offenders encounter upon their release from prison as well as the value of second chances.

As the season came to a conclusion — there was talk of a possible third season that would have focused on Paige and her mother’s relationship. But now that the show has been canceled viewers will have to speculate as to how those storylines would have turned out.
