Christopher Landon (“Happy Death Day”) directed the upcoming thriller DROP (2025) which was written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach. It promises to be a thrilling ride. The movie is set to come out on April 11, 2025, and stars Meghann Fahy (“The White Lotus”) and Brandon Sklenar (1923).
The story is about Violet (Fahy), a mother who has lost her husband, and her new relationship with Henry (Sklenar). But what seems like a normal night turns scary when Violet starts getting messages from unknown people threatening her son and sister’s lives. The shivering call? She has to do what the disturbing instructions say, which forces her to do the unthinkable: kill Henry. DROP turns a normal night into a battle of the mind, where trust is broken and every choice could mean life or death.
WHERE WAS THE MOVIE DROP FILMED?
To capture the creepy and suffocating tension of the story, the filmmakers looked for places that would add to the mood of suspense. Ireland was chosen because it is known for having beautiful scenery and state-of-the-art studios. A stylish, dimly lit restaurant is where a lot of the movie takes place, but the team used both real-life locations and studio settings in a smart way to make a visually compelling thriller.
DUBLIN, IRELAND
The lively and mysterious atmosphere of Dublin was perfect for DROP. The contrast between the city’s old streets and its new ones is interesting, just like the movie’s mix of sophistication and tension. Some outdoor scenes were shot in central Dublin, which was chosen for its creepy alleyways and urban look to add to the feeling of unease.

ARDMORE STUDIOS, BRAY, COUNTY WICKLOW
The production moved to Ardmore Studios in Bray, County Wicklow, for the more controlled and tense scenes. For filming the intense scenes between Violet and her mysterious tormentor, this famous studio, which is known for hosting big productions, was carefully designed. The set was carefully built to look like a fancy restaurant, and it was possible to use complex camera movements and lighting effects to add to the psychological depth of the thriller.

Christopher Landon got a lot of ideas from the thriller style that Brian De Palma is known for. He talked about how excited he was to film in Ireland and how the locations played a big role in setting the mood of the movie. He showed parts of the production process, like shooting at night on the streets of Dublin, pointing out how important the city was to the mood of the movie.
‘DROP’s‘ careful choice of filming locations shows how important setting is to storytelling. The mysterious beauty of Dublin and the controlled atmosphere of Ardmore Studios work together to make a background that is both real and scary. ‘DROP’ is getting ready to hit theaters on April 11, 2025. Fans can look forward to a movie where location and story come together seamlessly, creating a cinematic experience that lasts long after the credits roll.
