A new year brings a new millionaire. On the new reality show Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer, Steven McBee is one of two guys looking for love. The show is a remake of the original Joe Millionaire, which debuted in January 2003 and featured a group of ladies as they competed for the love of a wealthy guy. There are two eligible bachelors hunting for love in the new version, but only one of them is wealthy.

When Missouri native Steven McBee was cast in Fox’s Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer which premieres on January 6th, alongside fellow “millionaire” Kurt Sowers. Fans of the original series are eager to see how the new one compares, but the new bachelors are unfamiliar with the source material for their show. He informed Us Weekly that the 2022 relaunch, which began on Jan. 6, is different after learning about the reaction the original series experienced for duping women into falling in love with a false character.
Steven happens to be the “richer” of the two protagonists. Yes, he’s a millionaire — the first of the three seasons of the show — but that’s not all he’s got. Here’s everything else you need to know about the 27-year-old entrepreneur on the lookout for love on reality TV. Both of the new Joes have a minimal online profile, but the essentials are available. Kurt is the CEO of a development organization in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Steven is the president of a farm and cattle firm in Gallatin, Missouri — and neither of them is a big fan of reality television.
Steven McBee works as a farmer
Steven is the president and founder of a Missouri-based farming company. “One basic concept that has been with us since the day we first started farming — a real love for the land, and the duty to future generations to leave the ground in better condition than we found it,” he wrote in a letter posted to the company’s website. McBee Farm & Cattle Company, he added, is a “43,000-acre row crop business” that covers Missouri and Iowa. In May 2018, he posted beside an Instagram photo of himself sitting in the back of a pickup truck stopped in a field full of cattle, “I wouldn’t exchange this lifestyle for anything.”
Steven is also the founder of Apex Protein Snacks, a direct-to-consumer internet business that sells healthy, shelf-stable meat snacks. He revealed on Instagram in December 2020 that he’d teamed with his pals Josh and Sarah Bowmar to expand the brand.
He’s a devoted son to his mother.
Meanwhile, Steven appears to have a strong bond with his “beautiful” mother. His mother, in particular, is close to the reality star. In January 2021, he stated on Instagram, “Took my #1 girlfriend to Nashville for a nice weekend trip!” “I adore you, Mom!”
My gorgeous mother and I at Darbs’ (@darbyraines83) wedding a couple of days ago! Had such a good time celebrating one of my best friends getting hitched!
He’s also shared a lot of pictures of himself with his brothers.
Steven and one of his brothers, Jesse McBee, welcomed a delegation of high-ranking officials from the FEMA DCE (Defense Coordinating Element) Region VII in June to talk about the various pressures and causes that affect “large scale agriculture — both farming and ranching.” “Interesting conversations conducted with this group looking at cause/effects and potential solutions from a national and even global supply chain angle,” he said on Instagram later.
He enjoys being outside.
Steven McBee is on the lookout for true love.
“I’m looking for someone who’s in it for the long haul, whether they’re rich or poor, for better or worse, there’ll be good times and bad times,” he told Us. “Money will come and go over the course of a lifetime, but love must endure. As a result, I’m looking for someone who shares my beliefs, morals, and who genuinely wants to build a life with me.”
He enjoys listening to country music.
Steven referenced words from a Morgan Wallen song in one Instagram post, and he uploaded a photo of himself and pals at a Cody Johnson performance in another. His family, which includes siblings Jesse and Cole, is also close to the country music fan.
“Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer” airs Thursday on Fox.
