UNIVERSAL SHIFTS WICKED FILM RELEASE TO NOVEMBER 22

The movie adaptation of “WICKED” has a new release date.

A new date has been set for the release of Universal Pictures‘ long-awaited movie version of the Broadway hit WICKED.” It has been changed so that the movie will open in theaters on November 22, five days earlier than planned. This smart move moves the release date away from November 27.

WICKED FILM RELEASE DATE SHIFTED TO AVOID MOANA 2

Moving up the release date helps Universal escape a tough battle at the box office with “Moana 2.” Instead, “WICKED” will be able to make money off of the Thanksgiving holiday crowd, though it will have to deal with a different kind of competition. It will come out on the same day as “Gladiator II,” a historical blockbuster from Paramount and Ridley Scott. This is done so that the two movies’ audiences don’t have to compete with each other.

Multiple Changes to the Release Date

This is the second big change that has been made to “WICKED: Part One.” At first, the movie was supposed to come out on December 25. So Universal changed it to Thanksgiving instead of Christmas, when there are a lot of big movies like Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3.” The Thanksgiving time spot was picked so that it would reach the most people during a major holiday without directly competing with these big releases.

About the Movie

As a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz,” “WICKED” is based on the famous story. It is based on the popular Broadway show that has been enchanting people for years. Well-known songs like “Defying Gravity” and “Popular” are in the movie. The story is mostly about how Elphaba, who will become the Wicked Witch of the West and is played by Cynthia Erivo, and Glinda the Good, who is played by Ariana Grande, become friends out of the blue. Several outside forces put their relationship to the test, which sets off the events that determine their futures.

Wicked Movie Cast

There are some great actors in the movie. Jonathan Bailey plays Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh plays Madame Morrible, the director of Shiz University, Ethan Slater plays Boq, and Bowen Yang plays Pfannee. With captivating performances and lively character portrayals, this group promises to bring the magical world of Oz to life.

Once it comes out on its new date, “WICKED” will be the first big Christmas movie of the year. Fans of the Broadway show and people who have never seen it are both very excited for this movie version, which promises to have the magical story and catchy music that made “WICKED” a worldwide hit.
