While things can change at any time — like Tom Brady unretiring two months after announcing his retirement — this appears to be a long-term choice. There have been no new announcements from USA Network indicating that the show would return. For the time being, we must accept that Queen of the South has come to an end.
What was the reason for the cancellation of ‘Queen of the South’?
Queen of the South was a big hit with the audience. Netflix even bought up the entire five-season TV series. However, according to The Alike, the series’ fourth season suffered a significant dip in ratings of roughly 20%. Furthermore, the reduction in Season 5 was significantly higher, indicating that the sitcom was losing its audience.
This isn’t the first time one of USA Network’s original dramas has been cancelled. Mr. Robot, Suits, Pearson, and other shows shared Queen of the South’s demise.
As it picks up off-network runs of shows like Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1 or works up with other channels like Syfy for joint efforts like Chucky and Resident Alien, the network appears to be heading in a different path. NBCUniversal, USA Network’s parent company, appears to be focusing more on its streaming service Peacock at the moment.
What happened at the end of ‘Queen of the South’?
