The disruption of Lucas and Max’s movie night by Vecna’s attack in the finale is a great example of plans for the future being derailed by a terrible turn of events. Max passes away before Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is able to partially resuscitate her, but because she is connected to monitors and machines in the hospital and has had her limbs damaged by the horrific Vecna’s abilities, her future is still uncertain.
Although discussing the future wasn’t the final straw for Steve, we can’t help but wonder if he’ll be alive by the time Season 5 rolls around. Steve, who was first introduced as Nancy’s well-liked boyfriend in Season 1, has evolved throughout the course of the show from an envious jock to a protective babysitter. Fans have made it obvious that they will never want to see him leave the screen, but will that be enough to keep him alive? No one is safe from the evils present in Hawkins, as Stranger Things has demonstrated over the course of its four seasons. Steve might be the next victim.
