Young Sheldon Season 6 Episode 4 Recap

Young Sheldon Season 6 episode 4 begins with Mandy eating breakfast at Meemaw’s. George Jr. asks for food at breakfast, but Meemaw orders him to cook. Mandy and George Jr. seem happier. George Jr. leaves after breakfast. As an unemployed man with time to kill, George Sr. drinks tea and reads a newspaper in his yard. George Sr hears his neighbour Brenda shouting at her son Billy for feeding the birds breakfast cereal. George Sr. asks Brenda whether everything is okay, and they talk over the fence. Brenda tells George that Billy may fail math and she cannot afford a tutor. She asks George if Sheldon can teach Billy math.  After school, Missy tells Mary her day was dreadful. When Mary begs Missy to discuss it, she refuses. Mary is upset that Missy runs to Meemaw’s house for advice instead of talking to her. Meemaw advises Missy on her boy problems at her house, which she accepts. Sheldon initially refuses to teach Billy arithmetic for George Sr. Sheldon agrees to teach Billy after George Sr uses reverse psychology to suggest he can’t. Meemaw eats snacks with Mary at her house.

Mary asks Meemaw about Missy’s troubles. Meemaw brags and won’t tell Mary anything, but when Mary presses, she admits to having boy problems without going into detail. Sheldon is teaching Billy math, but Billy questions if zero exists, which changes his perspective because math is worthless without zero. Missy is unhappy with Meemaw since her boy advice backfired. Missy asks Mandy for advice instead of Meemaw after receiving an alternative idea from her. Meemaw informs Mary Missy started listening to Mandy instead of her. She acknowledges it stings. George Jr. tells them he’s keeping busy to avoid Mandy’s disapproval when he arrives. Meemaw opposes George’s request to praise him to Mandy. Sheldon also convinces Dr. Sturgis that zero is unreal. After failing to answer Sheldon’s worry, Dr. Sturgis doubts zero’s existence. George Jr. asks Mary for help making dinner when he visits. When pressed, he says he wants to cook for Mandy and the baby. When Mary instructs him to peel potatoes, he accidentally cuts his finger. Missy tells Mary she and Mandy are going to a restaurant for dinner.

Missy informs Mandy that everything went great and that she did all she asked on the way to the restaurant. Missy adds to Mandy’s wisdom. After some more chatter, Mandy tells Missy that anyone can be a blonde, which she likes. Sheldon and Sturgis tell Dr. Linkletter there is no zero. After hearing their hypothesis and thinking about it, Dr. Linkletter accepts it. Missy dyes her hair blonde after Mandy’s advice, but when the process goes wrong and some of her blonde hair has red spots, she freaks out. Mandy comforts Missy when she requests help.

After her parents find out about her hair, Missy worries. Mandy and George Jr. delay George Sr. Sheldon tells Billy that he was right and that zero does not exist. Billy tricks Sheldon into believing zero. Sheldon contrasts that with his mother’s faith in God. Sheldon believes zero created the cosmos since something came from nothing. After that, Sheldon and Billy worship zero, and Sheldon expresses his thanks for all that zero made possible. Billy returns to Jesus after worshipping zero because he needs to study for the test. When Missy is hiding in the bathroom, George Sr. uses the bathroom. After that, Missy jumps out of the window of the bathroom. Meemaw brings Missy home, her mother is upset, and Sheldon is uncomfortable because Missy’s hair is different. Missy often wears a monkey cap to school to hide her golden hair. While Missy looks to be taking an exam, Billy lets her copy from him. Following that, we find out that Billy passed the test and started seventh grade, where he remained for a while.
